Process Book
Tangent is a monthly print magazine exploring contemporary architecture through a focused visual and editorial lens. This issue-based design project includes layout design, typographic system, editorial content planning, and print-ready production assets. The first issue features three renowned architects—Daniel Libeskind, Rem Koolhaas, and I.M. Pei—each known for their groundbreaking, angular approach to form and space.

Tangent was developed for an audience of architects, designers, and visual culture enthusiasts seeking a tactile, curated look at architectural storytelling. Each issue pairs deep editorial content with a strong graphic voice, highlighting both built environments and the ideas behind them.

The design direction was inspired by the bold geometries, sculptural forms, and spatial clarity that define the work of Libeskind, Koolhaas, and Pei. Layouts relied on asymmetric grids, condensed serif typefaces, and sharply angled paragraph blocks to echo the structural rhythm and tension found in their architecture. The visual system centered on architectural photography sourced from public archives and digital museum collections. Select spreads used angular text wraps to complement the structural contours of the imagery.

Tactile treatments included an uncoated heavyweight cover and interior pages printed on smooth matte stock. Tangent builds a space of its own on paper—an editorial expression of geometry in motion.
